Proper Calibration Procedure: The Axion XQ30 Pro microbolometer sensor requires periodic calibration to eliminate residual image artifacts and correct image non-uniformities. The device offers three calibration modes: Automatic (A), Semi-Automatic (H), and Manual (M). Critical Tip: In Manual Mode (M), preferred by experienced users and professional field operators because it is completely silent, you must close the protective lens cap before initiating calibration. If calibration is performed with the lens uncovered, image artifacts may occur and the process will need to be repeated with the lens cap closed.
APS3 Battery Management in Cold Weather: Although the AMOLED display remains highly resistant to freezing temperatures, lithium-ion batteries naturally discharge faster below zero. Performance Tip: When operating in cold environments down to -25°C, keep spare APS3 batteries in an inside clothing pocket to benefit from body heat. Install the battery only when observation is about to begin. For extended observation sessions, an external power bank can be connected through the waterproof USB Type-C port while safely stored inside a backpack or jacket pocket.
Using the Three Sensitivity Enhancement Levels: The three sensitivity settings are not simple brightness controls but advanced image-processing algorithms that influence how the NETD <25mK sensor separates targets from the background. In clear and dry weather, use the Normal setting. When humidity increases or light fog is present, switch to High. During storms, dense fog, or situations with minimal thermal contrast between targets and the environment, activate the Ultra setting together with the Rainbow palette.
